Stuffed Green Peppers

4 green peppers
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onions
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 – 8 ounce cans tomato sauce
1 cup cracker crumbs
Cut peppers in half lengthwise. Combine other ingredients using only 1/2 can tomato sauce to moisten mixture. Set aside remaining tomato sauce. Pile mixture into pepper halves and place in baking dish. Pour remaining sauce over peppers; cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1-1/4 hours. Baste occasionally and add a littler water if needed. Serves: 4-6.
