"4th of July"
Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
As a boy during the Great Depression, we only enjoyed ice cream on the Fourth of July after we laid-by our crop. 

2 cups powdered sugar

1 cup whipping cream

3 tablespoons vanilla extract

2 quarts Half & Half

Combine powdered sugar, whipping cream and vanilla; stir until smooth. Add Half & Half. Pour into freezer can of a 1-gallon hand turned or electric freezer. Freeze according to manufacturer's instructions. Yield: 1 gallon.
